The tall dark and handsome man in black coat watched me as I fled, and with that the dream, or at least my memory of it, faded.
This all started, Past in Shadows. I HAD to capture that moment. That emotion. I began to write.
What helped me round his character was actually House. Gregory House. My character already had an attitude, especially with waking up daily with suspicious pains no one could account. I returned to old episodes of House and immersed myself into the crass, sarcastic, and asinine like personality he had. Great for really cementing the language.
Considering nothing could be as hot as my dreams, hehe, Steel was a bit harder to capture. The suave vampire had a touch of Keanu Reeves / Matrix mixed with some vampire darkness from Angel and Underworld. Being very hard to pin down personality I let him stew in my head longer. I also did a bit of photo editing to try and make a digital rendition of my dream man. Didn't get it quite the way I wanted, but it is a start.
She might have been the hardest. I had a good idea in my head, but long ago lost it before it could be recorded. Her name, Ada I started with. But a last name eluded my until I watched the movie Bloodrayne. What an interesting B level movie with a hot red headed star. Perfect! Rayne was the perfect added mystery and much better than the names I was finding in the phone book. (Yes I still have a phone book) I also did some digital photo editing trying to make a little hot steamy something. Her photo is much closer to my mental image of her.
They make a great mysterious team and definitely a strange collection of me seeking inspiration at 1AM; to much coffee, watching whatever I found on Netflix.
Stay tuned and I'll share more of my random inspirations.
